Hyaluronic acid is a polymer with glycosidic bonds. This substance is naturally produced in the body and is the main component of synovial fluid, providing its viscosity.

Hyaluronic acid plays an important role in many physiological processes, including:

• Tissue elasticity: Hyaluronic acid helps keep tissues elastic, allowing the skin to stretch and return to its original shape without forming wrinkles. It has also been proven to accelerate regeneration processes and reduce the appearance of scars.

• Joint lubrication: Hyaluronic acid acts as a lubricant during joint movement. As a result, joint surfaces do not wear down, and there is no pain or clicking during flexion and extension. This helps maintain joint function over time.

• Moisture retention: The substance effectively retains water inside cells. Studies have shown that a teaspoon of hyaluronic acid can hold up to one and a half gallons of water. For this reason, it is often used to relieve dry eyes and is included in creams, gels, and serums.
